B P Sulpha Supplement

An antibiotic supplement recommended for use in Baird Parker Agar Base to suppress the growth of Proteus species.

The addition of 50 mg/L Sulphamethazine suppresses the growth and swarming of Proteus species. In Baird Parker Agar base sulphamethazine as a selective supplement suppresses the growth of Proteus species but allow Staphylococcus aureus to grow.

Composition per vial, Sufficient for 1000 mL medium:
Sulphamethazine         50 mg
