Haemoglobin powder is an enrichment supplement whose 2% w/v solution is autoclavable.

Haemoglobin, an autoclavable preparation of beef blood, provides hemin (X factor), which is required by Haemophilus species and enhances growth of Neisseria species. Haemoglobin powder is used with G.C. agar base in the preparation of chocolate agar.
