DPX Mountant is used for preserving stains in specimen slides.
A mixture of distyrene
(a polystyrene), a plasticizer (tricresyl phosphate), and xylene, called DPX.
They preserve stains and dry quickly; surplus
mountant may be peeled off the preparation after cutting around the
coverslip with a razor blade or scalpel. They are not recommended for use with
thick sections (e.g.cellulose nitrate) where there is a danger of retraction of
the mountant upon drying. A traditional resin-based slide mountant with xylene
solvent, of medium viscosity and is touch dry in approximately 15 minutes. DPX
Mountant is suitable for H&E (Hematoxylin & Eosin) staining.
Appearance: Clear, colourless thick solution.
